As our area continues thrive and grow, we are creating an eligibility list to fill immediate and future, full-time, Firefighter openings.  Our full-time firefighters work a 24/48-hour shift schedule and are housed at Station 1, located in Branson West, Missouri.  Station 1 also serves as our District Headquarters.

ABOUT OUR DISTRICT

The Southern Stone County Fire Protection District, located in beautiful southwest Missouri, covers 280 square miles of Southern Stone County. The district covers the largest portion of Table Rock Lake, known for its, world-class, bass fishing. The District operates 14 fire stations and utilizes two fire boats. Classified as a combination district there are 50 Volunteer Firefighters, 24 Auxiliary Members, and 20 Cadets. The volunteers are supported by six paid, shift, firefighters and a command staff of four chief officers.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Career Firefighter

Immediate Supervisor: Assistant Chief / Operations

Minimum Requirements:

 Firefighter I & II – Missouri Certified
 EMR (EMT Preferred)
 ICS 100 & 700 Certification
 Missouri driver’s license
 High School Diploma or GED
 No Residency requirement

Duties and Responsibilities

 Carry out duties and alternate assignments as directed.
 Under supervision, responds to fire alarms and other emergency calls.
 Trains and operates firefighting equipment.
 Participates in fire prevention programs, including inspections, investigations, public educations, hazardous materials, station maintenance, maintaining/testing equipment and apparatus’, and training activities.
 Assists in maintaining fire apparatus, equipment and fire station and grounds.
 Responds to major alarms while off duty (call back).
 Required to attend scheduled drills and classes related to all job duties.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

 Knowledge of the normal operations of the apparatus as prescribed by manufacturers operational and specification manual.
 Knowledge of all equipment on apparatus and its location and condition.
 All members shall keep themselves familiar with the condition and location of fire hydrants, roads/streets, and equipment, so that they can determine the safest and quickest manner of response to all incidents.
 Will conduct station tours; performs related duties as assigned.
 Prepares records of own activates (Fire House).
 Duties require heavy physical work; duties will require contact with undesirable physical conditions and hazards requiring constant safety considerations.
 Other duties as assigned.
